You’ve got a fitness friend in me – why you should buddy up for the YMCA Father’s Day Fun Run!

Running – you either love it or hate it.

Either way, when it comes to training for a marathon, it’s always more enjoyable if you’ve got someone to cheer you on and give you a little boost when you need it.

Here’s some top reasons to buddy up for your training:

Support

We all have those days where we just can’t face getting up and going for a run.

Especially during the cold, wet winter months.

That’s why training as a pair or as a group can be a great source of support or motivation.

It will help motivate you to turn up and to do your best while you’re there if you know you have other people relying on you.

By celebrating your successes with others, it will keep your self-esteem intact and will help you stay motivated.

Performance

Having someone to train with can help add a little competitive element, and that’s never a bad thing!

If you’re training with someone, you’ll hopefully develop a relationship where you can support each other to achieve your best and help reach your goals.

You could really push your limits by training with someone a little more advanced than you to try and keep up with them.

If you’re accompanied by someone else, the chances are you’re likely to run faster and further.

Seeing everyone try their hardest on the day of the YMCA Father’s Day Fun Run will help you push yourself too.

Fun

It’s called a fun run for a reason!

Exercise is about having fun as well as keeping fit, and the YMCA has plenty of fun classes to help you enjoy yourself with likeminded people.

By training with friends you will ensure you’re always getting a workout. The more fun you’re having, the more you’ll push yourself. Which means better results.

So see if you can get your family and friends involved for this year’s YMCA Father’s Day Fun Run, and get the most out of taking part.

The Early Bird offer including discounted family rates is still available until 4 August – click here to register today!
