YMCA Father’s Day Fun Run: Everything you need to know
Get excited!! The YMCA Father’s Day Fun Run is nearly here!
But before you get too excited, take a little time to read through this essential guide to all things Fun Run this weekend.
10km starts at 7.30am / start line warm up at 7.15am
5km starts at 9am / start line warm up at 8.45am
On arrival, head to the Event Village in Alexandra Gardens where our Event Marshalls will be on hand to direct you on the short walk to the start line on Alexandra Avenue, near the Pillars of Wisdom. If you already have your fun run bib and do not need to drop off any personal belongings to the bag check, you can come straight to the start line.
Bag Check will be located in the Event Village so that you can safely store your belongings while you’re out on the track.
Bib collection and wristbands for children three years or younger. If you registered on or after Friday 19 August, your bib and timing device will be available for collection at the registration tent in the Event Village from 6am. Click here for the Event Village map.
Please bring a form of ID if you need to pick up your fun run bib. Also allow enough time before the event starts to collect your gear, complete the emergency contact information on the back of your bib and then make your way to the start line for the warm up!
Dress ready! We all know and love Melbourne’s whacky weather, so be sure to check the forecast before you come.
Make sure you’re at the starting line at least 15 minutes prior to starting. If you’re dropping off your belonging or picking up your fun run bib in the Event Village, we recommend you arrive 45 minutes before your kick off time.
The Event Village is conveniently located near a range of public transport routes, car parks and cycle routes. We encourage Fun Runners to come by foot, bike or public transport where possible as parking is limited and there will be several road closures due to the event.
If you’re coming by train, the event is a short walk from Flinders Street Station or Richmond Station. Tram numbers 3, 5, 6, 8, 16, 64, 67 & 72 all travel down St Kilda Road. Disembark at the Arts Centre and cross the road to Alexandra Gardens. Bicycle parking is available on Boathouse Drive, very near the Event Village.
Click here for further information on road closures, suggested car parks and drop off points.
Check the home page for the 5km and 10km course maps
Event Marshals will be dotted along the course, ensuring everyone’s safety as well as cheering and motivating everybody around the track. If you have any questions throughout the day, our marshals are the ones to ask.
First Aid stations will be located along the course. If at any point you feel unwell, please notify those around you and find your way to the nearest First Aid point.
Drinks stations will be positioned throughout the course for that all important hydration.
The Finish Line will be at the Event Village in Alexandra Gardens (Engineer Lawn). Our Event Marshals will be there to cheer you all the way to the end and guide you towards the well-earned recovery coffee, food and entertainment that awaits you in the Event Village. Your results will be immediately available on our website.
